New video added of Zarai
This has been an interesting season, with no foals born - though in fairness if mares are not put in foal, that will inevitably happen! However, as both mares used were maidens, I wanted to see how their babies developed as they grew, both in stature and temperament, to give me a better idea as to which stallions to use next time around.
Sonata is lovely, a much chunkier looking type than her mum currently, but it is expected that she will be a gorgeous 3 year old. She is a feisty little girl, not mean in any way, but opinionated - as many fillies are. Chinook is developing beautifully, a laid back and kind young man, just like his mum and dad. I am very excited to see how he is this time next year as a 2 year old.
All mares will be put in foal in the Spring, and with my new babies, Cruise and Junior, along with Zarai being in foal to Don Aqui, next year looks to be very exciting and active for the stud, with, fingers crossed 4 more foals due in 2012 and if he goes as expected, a grading appointment for Chinook.....I will definitely be trying not to look through "rose tinteds" for him though and will ensure that I really think he is a good stallion prospect before putting him forward. If I think he needs to develop another year, then so be it - either way the girls are loving their extended holiday and more photos will follow shortly....
I am once again thrilled to announce a new baby for the stud. I turned again to MFS Stud in Scotland and purchased the gorgeous MFS Don Junior. Junior is by Don Aqui (Don Bosco) out of Willisa Rosa (Emilion x Damiro B x Concorde). Junior was born on 29 March 2010 and is Cruise's best friend. He will travel down in November.
I am very proud to announce a new mare for the stud. Zarai de Haar has been purchased from my good friends Caroline and Gordon Ironside of MFS Stud in Scotland, also the breeders of Cruise!
More of Zarai can be seen here, on her own page.....
The beautiful Izzy has scanned in foal to Weston Justice! We are now waiting on the heartbeat scan to make sure she has held onto it. We are so pleased that Izzy took first time and are really looking forward to this baby in 2011.
Meanwhile, new videos of Cruise have been taken by his breeders Caroline and Gordon Ironside of MFS Stud in Scotland. I am thrilled with how he is developing - taken at almost 5 months of age...he is going to be a big boy! Videos and new photos also added to Cruise's page here
Not a huge amount to update on for now, other than how wonderful all the horses are looking.
The neverending stallion choices are ongoing, just when I thought I had them all sorted there has been a change of plan. I will post who the stallions are though once the mares are in foal, or I am at risk of changing my mind again. Lovely problem to have though with just too many fantastic stallions at stud in this country!
Chinook is growing on very well and still as mild mannered as ever. The stallion choice for Izzie has definitely be made and again will be announced when she is in foal.
For now here are some updated photos of Breeze, Sienna, Cruella and Chinook. I hope your horses are all well and you have been able to settle on some stallions!
