September 2009
The mares and foals have now moved to a new, long term base at the beautiful Touchwood Stud in Oxfordshire. The decision to keep Chinook as an entire and hopefully future foundation stallion for the stud meant we had to find a base which could best meet his needs and that of the girls.
There are AI facilities on site which means they also do not have to leave base to be inseminated in Spring. I am still deciding which stallions to use, I am 99% sure that Breeze will be matched with Gribaldi as I have long wanted to use this beautiful stallion.
The foals are both doing beautifully and are growing on well. They were running and playing within minutes of arrival in their new field, which is always a good sign. Their mothers are also enjoying the new surroundings which are very peaceful and secluded. Thanks to Dave and Gemma at Touchwood who have made them all feel so welcome!!
August 2009
I decided not to put any of the girls in foal this year. For Breeze and Cruella it was more a case of practicality. They had just moved to a new base with the babies and there are no AI facilities on site. That meant they would have had to go an hour to the vet who does them and stay overnight. I did not think that fair so close to their move and with two babies in tow.
They will now be put in foal in April hopefully.
Sienna is doing very well, she has some growing up to do and was, in my view, too immature emotionally to put in foal this year. She will be put in foal in April too, all going well.
The babies are growing fast and absolutely beautiful, I honestly could not have asked for better!
New photos will be uploaded shortly......
